It should no longer be chasing birds on the flush\, can stand steady on birds and you are able to stop the dog at a distance on cue. The dog has been introduced to the concept of backing other dogs point and has a good understanding of the three actions  (coming to you\, coming with you and standing or sitting still). \nNow we are ready to put the finish on this hunting team.  We will make the transition from pigeons to game birds\, transfer all remote cues to the neck (no more belly band) and work in braces with multiple hunting teams in the field. \nWe don’t consider a dog finished until they are steady to wing\, shot and fall to be released for the retrieve. You will work with your dog on planted and liberated birds in hunting scenarios to establish this level of proficiency. If we are fortunate enough to have flushing dogs in the class then we will be able to take it to a whole new level. The pointing dogs will point and we will send the flushers in for the flush and sit.  It simply doesn’t get any better. \nThe Advanced Level seminar training environment is hard to replicate. Your dog is in the right state of mind and understands exactly what is expected of them. As a handler you have honed in your leadership sills to a whole new level.  It’s time to start developing the tasks that both of you have learned into the skills needed to becoming a bird dog team. \nAt this level you will learn how to handle your dog in the field using your body and the remote cues. This will keep the dog working out in front locating birds. You will learn how to stop your dog remotely and most importantly take the chase away. This will allow the dogs natural instant to point not chase to come out. Your dog will learn to hold point and be honest or steady on birds. The dog will be introduced to the concept of honoring a dogs point (backing) and staying focused while working with brace mates and their handlers. \nThe use of an e-collar with low level capabilities along with your body cues is an extremely effective way to communicate with your dog at a distance. You will learn the proper use of an e-collar and what low level really means (how low can you go). We are committed to using the lowest level of any kind of pressure in order to effectively communicate with the dog while getting the desired behavior. By utilizing this method you will be able to handle your dog without the need for auditable commands\, such as a whistle or yelling out. It gives you a platform to fall back on when things don’t go as planed. We have tailored our Foundation seminar to help you learn how to read your dog\, how to understand the dogs state of mind and apply the proper training techniques to give the dog the best opportunity for success. A calm and confident dog is the goal. \nDuring this segment of the seminar series your dog will be introduced to formal training at its most fundamental level. We work very hard to make the training experience for both you and your dog as black and white as possible. This way each member of the team ( you and your dog) know exactly what is expected with no\, what we like to call “gray”. You will learn the basic building blocks of what is required of a bird dog\, coming to you\, coming with you and standing or sitting still. \nDuring this seminar points of contact for cueing will be created that will be used throughout the dogs bird dog career and family life. The proper introduction to birds and gun fire is critical. Your dog will work in the field under a controlled environment to give them the preparation needed to make birds and guns the best things ever. \nThe dog is a natural hunter and a member of a pack. The pack has a set of rules to establish order. We take that same behavior and apply it to our training program. We use the dogs natural hunting instincts to help them understand honoring a pack members point commonly referred to as backing. This behavior is molded throughout the training process. \nAt the completion of the foundation seminar you will be well on your way in developing a true hunting dog\, a team mate with a good state of mind.
